Palma de Mallorca Self-Guided Detective Murder Mystery Game

2 hours

Easy

Follow a detective murder case through the old town of Palma, from the Plaça Major down to Parc de la Mar and the cathedral.

The Plaça Major in Palma is where the case opens, with the first task on the square itself. From there the route drops through the old town to Plaça de Cort, past the church of Santa Eulàlia and down to Parc de la Mar under the walls of the cathedral. It is a self-guided murder mystery game rather than a walk with commentary.

The old town of Palma is small, and the lanes between the Banys Àrabs and the Convent de Santa Clara are quiet enough to think in, with a slope down to the water and back up again. Families with children, friends, couples and colleagues all play in teams of up to four on a single phone, while bigger groups split up and compete against each other. Playing alone works too. There is no guide and no fixed start time.

How to play

Four steps come before the first task in Palma.

  1. Book the City Game
  2. Check the instructions email
  3. Download the Loquiz app
  4. Start playing whenever you like

The case is the murder of Balthasar. Coded messages, photo tasks and statements from digital characters build the picture, and the picture changes as you go. Between the Palau de l'Almudaina and the seafront one alibi collapses, and the remaining names are easier to sort.

Several teams playing at once turns the score into a contest, and that is what makes it useful for teambuilding. Break when you like, continue afterwards, and close the case in Palma when you are ready.
